“For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled.” – Richard P. Feynman
Sustainable design has been with us for thousands of years. Both the ancient cityscapes of Europe and the small German farm houses of Fredericksburg are a testament to green design and building. Today, many of those same concepts are being revitalized with the addition of technology—allowing for the creation of modern places that have a gentler impact on our environment.
Technology is defined as the application of knowledge for practical purposes. Green and sustainable building introduces environmental awareness and science to that technology with the goal of conserving natural resources and curbing negative human impacts. For some in the eco-friendly society, green and technology are at odds with one another. We see them both together as the foundation for solutions to modern day dilemmas. The expectation for green technology is that it will bring innovation and changes to our daily life of a similar magnitude as did “information technology” over the last twenty years. With GreenTech Design/Build those changes in our built world will be positive ones that we can live with and enjoy.
“If we continue to develop our technology without wisdom or prudence, our servant may prove to be our executioner” – Omar N. Bradley
